Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III (plus connu sous le nom de Pete Wentz) a grandi à Wilmette, Illinois, une banlieue de Chicago. Aîné d'une famille de trois enfants, il a fait ses études au New Trier Township High School et North Shore Country Day School où il était un joueur de football hors-pair. Après avoir terminé l'école secondaire (le lycée) en 1997, il a étudié la science politique à l'Université DePaul. Il a laissé tomber ses études à un semestre de la remise de diplômes pour se consacrer à la musique.

Peter fut premièrement impliqué dans la scène Hardcore Punk de Chicago et fit partie de quelques groupes a la fin des années 1990, incluant xfirstbornx, Arma Angelus (avec Tim McIlrath, de Rise Against), 7 Angels of the Apocalypse / Culture of Violence, xBirthrightx, Extinction, Forever Ended Today, Yellow Road Priest, Racetraitor, et Project Rocket. En 2001, il co-fonde le groupe Fall Out Boy avec Joe Trohman et Patrick Stump, Andy Hurley rejoignant le groupe plus tard. En 2004 Arma Angelus, le groupe de Pete Wentz donna son dernier concert.

En février 2005, Pete effectua une tentative de suicide, en prenant une surdose de Ativan (médicament utilisé contre l'anxiété), il passera une semaine à l'hopital avant de s'en sortir. En commentant sa tentative de suicide pour un magazine, il disait: "Je m'isolais de plus en plus profondément, et plus je m'isolais, plus je me sentais isolé. Je ne dormais pas. Je voulais juste complètement arrêter de penser à quoi que ce soit.". Cette tentative fut rapidement mise sous forme musicale, dans la chanson I've Got A Dark Alley and A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song), figurant sur l'album From Under The Cork Tree, sorti en 2005. Après cet évènement, Pete retourna vivre chez ses parents.

Patrick Martin Stump (de son vrai nom: Patrick Martin Stumph) est né le 27 avril 1984, à Glenview dans l'Illinois.

Chanteur principal et guitariste du groupe Fall Out Boy, il était à l'origine batteur dans un autre groupe (Public Display of Infection) lorsqu'il était au lycée Glenbrook South.

Il commence donc sa carrière de chanteur avec le groupe Fall out Boy qu'il rejoint après avoir passé une audition chez Pete Wentz, le bassiste du groupe.

Il participe à la chanson Cupid's Chokehold avec le groupe Gym Class Heroes.
